Christians are working in third world countries overseas to bring healthy foods, clean drinking water and an education to the people of these areas. Even in the United States, Christians are setting up soup kitchens to feed people who are starving and taking collections of clothing for those who have none.

Additionally, other Christians donate portions of their money to all different types of charities, and they work to make sure a certain amount of their paychecks go to those who are less fortunate. Churches run charities throughout the year, especially during the holidays, to provide Christmas gifts to those who cannot afford their own.

All across the country, Christians are finding news ways to take care of people who are poor or living in deplorable conditions. Are televised ministries something you can trust?

It all depends on who is running the ministry and what you are looking for in a religious program. Many ministers who are on television like Billy Graham and David Jeremiah are considered to be the genuine article and often provide substantial material despite the televised medium.

Unfortunately, there is always and ugly aspect of marketing that comes into the mix and you can’t help but be concerned when you see a genuinely moving sermon bookended by stale ads about buying the latest book or Bible study guide.

In the end, you really need to think for yourself. You need to re-evaluate your understanding of the scripture and what it means to be a Christian.

You need to watch these men and women on the television and you need to ask yourself if what they are doing is right. Are they using television to reach millions with the Word of God, or is this show mostly about them?

When you can figure this out, you know which televised ministries you can trust and which ones are wolves in sheep’s clothing.

Some facilities will offer regular programs to benefit the elderly residents of the facility. The programs may consist of a Christian speaker ministering to the residents through the Gospel, or the programs may consist of Christian music being performed to entertain the residents. The programs are effective and efficient ways to include the community by allowing them to become a part of the service with the residents. Volunteers can help by organizing the event, singing, playing an instrument or offering words of encouragement to the residents.

Christian activity directors can be trained to work with the elderly to provide them with quality activities to help the elderly individuals lead more fulfilled lives. Residents in nursing homes and other assisted living facilities are limited to the activities that they are able to enjoy. However, an activity director can encourage local churches to volunteer to visit the establishments and become involved with meeting the needs of the elderly. The community can become involved by providing care packages with personal items for each resident.

There remains another aspect to this human contraband problem: what to do with those innocent people who have been seduced or forced into this form of slavery. Safe houses are badly needed to aid in this exodus from the slave trade and many Baptist churches are now endeavoring to provide the sanctuaries needed.

In the Old Testament Book of Isaiah, chapter 1, verse 17 it reads: “Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow.” As a result, many ministries have dedicated themselves to implementing this above Scripture verse in a practical manner: Refuge of Light is one such outreach. Its main focus is in bringing restoration to the lives of those most affected; moreover, a shelter for those exiting human trafficking is planned to open for the near future.

Christ was sent to Earth by God to repent for the human race’s sins. Without this gesture of infinite love and forgiveness we would be condemned to an eternity of unhappiness. Life without Christ is aimless and empty. Life with Christ is full of purpose and satisfaction. The good news must reach the ears of those that need it. Baptist Ministries and mission programs are the conduit for the good news, and must be supported by anybody able who feels the call. Together, with the support of Christians who feel the holy spirit’s urge to spread the good news, Baptist Ministries may help save countless souls.

Heifer Project International was started in the 1940′s by Church of the Brethren relief worker Dan West. He was handing out milk rations to children when he realized that they needed a cow more than a cup. This revelation has shaped Heifer Project International’s operating practices ever since. Each family who receives an animal from the Heifer Project is asked to “pass on the gift” by donating at least one of that animal’s offspring to another family, continuing the cycle of support.

Bread for the World is another Christian organization working to end hunger worldwide.

These are just two examples out of many. Together, the efforts of all Christian organizations worldwide feed millions around the world through both direct relief and by providing a means of support.
